Better Health Begins Together
What helps a community become healthier?
Healthy communities are built by creating opportunities for people to learn, connect, and support one another.
That is exactly what the Charleston Thrives Health & Well-Being Working Group is working to encourage across Charleston.
That commitment was recently demonstrated through a partnership between the Tallahatchie County Community Consortium and Tallahatchie General Hospital. As part of the Consortium’s quarterly in-person meeting, community partners hosted a Diabetes and Women’s Health Lunch & Learn at the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center. The gathering brought together health care professionals, community organizations, parents, caregivers, and residents to share practical information, answer questions, and connect people with resources that support healthier lives.
Why does that matter?
Because healthier communities begin with informed people. When trusted organizations come together to share knowledge and connect residents with ongoing support, they help people make healthier choices for themselves and their families.
Someone may leave with a better understanding of diabetes. A caregiver may discover a new resource. A family may gain confidence to make healthier choices together. Every conversation, every connection, and every shared lesson helps build a healthier Charleston.
That is why this is a Charleston Thrives progress story.
The Health & Well-Being Working Group believes lasting progress happens when organizations and residents work together around a shared purpose. By connecting people with trusted information, local partners, and practical resources, collaborations like this help Charleston become a healthier, stronger community. That is what Making Progress Together looks like.
