UPDATE (Wednesday, April 30): Tallahatchie County Sheriff Jimmy Fly said Antoine Haywood, who had been a fugitive since mid-morning Tuesday, “turned himself in to the Charleston jail without any problems" shortly before 8 Wednesday night after being on the lam for about 33 hours.

Teen dies in one-car accident

William Taylor, a 16-year-old Charleston resident, died Thursday, Nov. 19, as a result of injuries he sustained when the SUV he was driving left the roadway and collided with a tree.
A front-seat passenger in the vehicle also was injured in the crash.

COVID-19 claims lives of six more Mississippians

JACKSON — The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) on Saturday reported 97 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and six new deaths.
The new statistics push the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 1,455 with 35 deaths. MSDH updates its map and statistics each morning with test results from the previous day.
