Highway Patrol preparing for Labor Day travel period

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is gearing up to keep the state’s roadways safe for the Labor Day holiday.
MHP will begin what it calls the Labor Day travel enforcement period on Friday, Sept. 4, at 12:01 a.m., and conclude it on Monday, Sept. 7, at midnight.

OAKLAND — Shirley Guy Logan, age 84, dragline operator, passed Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston.
Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Woodlawn Cemetery at Sumner. Womble Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirl M. Logan.

Despite a predicted 2-4 inches of rain from the remnants of what once was Category 4 Hurricane Laura, much of Tallahatchie County remained relatively dry late last week.
