With less than two weeks remaining until the Nov. 5 general election, officials are reminding voters who can’t be at the polls, to take advantage of the absentee ballot process, including weekend voting.
Tallahatchie County Circuit Clerk Daphane Neal said Tuesday that her offices in Charleston and Sumner will be open from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 2.
In-person absentee voting may also be accomplished at the circuit clerk’s offices from 8 a.m. until noon, and from 1-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Saturday, Nov. 2, will be the last day to cast an absentee ballot in person at the circuit clerk’s office.
Among those eligible to vote by absentee ballot are members of the armed forces and their spouses, persons who will be outside their county of residence on election day, persons required to work on election day during the time (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) when the polls will be open, the temporarily or permanently physically disabled and those 65 years old or older.
