WEBB — The National League of Cities, through its Strong Southern Communities Initiative, has awarded a microgrant in the amount of $2,500 to the town of Webb, Mayor Tracy Mims announced last week.
“I am happy ... that my grant proposal was accepted,” Mims noted in a press release.
He said the funds will be used to place internet, furniture and reading materials in the town of Webb’s Reading Corner educational facility, which is located in the Webb Community House.
The National League of Cities is an advocacy organization that represents the nation’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages along with 49 state municipal leagues. The SSCI provides microgrants, technical assistance and peer learning opportunities for municipalities in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi that pledge to take a measured, results-based approach to improving outcomes for children and families in their communities.
