The Tallahatchie County Election Commission invites all interested residents to attend Feb. 24 or March 1 training sessions designed to familiarize the public with the use of the county's new voting machines.
The machines are scheduled to be in operation at all precincts beginning with the presidential primary election next month.
Election commissioners will be conducting the training, as follows:
» Saturday, Feb. 24, at 12, in the courtroom of the Tallahatchie County Courthouse in Charleston
» Friday, March 1, at 6 p.m., at the Tutwiler Activities and Convention Complex, located at 434 Holly St. in Tutwiler
District 3 Election Commissioner Yolanda Cotton said the training will include some hands-on opportunities for voters to get up close and personal with the new technology and a different voting process.
She said commissioners hope that the training will help to reduce some election-day hiccups at the polling places and make for an overall smoother, "successful election."
Races on the March 12 Democratic and Republican primary ballots will include the offices of president, U.S. Senate and U.S. representative.
