Charleston's DeAntre Prince has been snagged by the Jacksonville Jaguars on day three of the 2024 NFL draft.
He was a fifth-round selection, pick number 153 overall. There were a total of 257 spots.
The televised announcement from the NFL draft stage in Detroit was made at 1:54 p.m. local time.
Prince, a former Charleston High School Tigers standout, also played for the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers and spent most of the last three years as a starting defensive back for the Ole Miss Rebels.
He is the first Tallahatchian ever to be drafted into the National Football League.
In mock drafts, Prince had been projected to go in the fourth to sixth rounds.
Prior to the draft, Prince said the Jacksonville Jaguars, along with the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, were teams that had expressed the most interest in him.
