Rosebloom Recreational Park’s annual Independence Day celebration, always held on a Saturday, will this year fall on the very date of the nation’s historic 250th birthday, July 4.
Admission to this family-friendly event is free, and organizers say that everyone is encouraged to show their patriotic pride by wearing red, white and blue clothing and accessories.
Festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with the opening of booths in the shaded arts and crafts vendor area.
Also kicking off at 2 will be a noncompetitive car “show and shine” that will allow car enthusiasts to show off their rides and to view others. The car exhibition will be ongoing until 6:30 p.m.
A free water slide will offer fun for the young’uns.
The park concession stand will be open to offer for purchase a variety of foods, treats and beverages to satisfy the hunger and quench the thirst.
The late afternoon will bring recognition of the park’s youth ball teams, live music and a patriotic program during which U.S. military veterans in attendance will be honored. More detailed information will be forthcoming.
The grand finale will be one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in the area.
Everyone is encouraged to bring family, friends and lawn chairs to enjoy the festivities.
Arts and crafts vendor spaces are available for $25. For more information, contact Michelle Rideout at 662-520-8548 or Andrea Davis at 662-647-1752.
