With the passing of an Aug. 21 qualifying deadline for three local school board seats, those lineups for the Nov. 4 general election are set.
» Both Jerrerico Chambers, 36, of 34739 Mississippi Highway 32 E., Oakland, and Carey Trey Gammill, 49, of 3766 Mississippi Highway 35 S., Holcomb, filed qualifying papers to challenge one-term incumbent Bryant A. Watson, 57, of 3998 Cascilla-Grenada Road, Cascilla, in Education District 10 for a seat on the East Tallahatchie School District Board of Trustees.
» In Education District 5, a post on the West Tallahatchie School District Board of Trustees, incumbent Cora B. Hooper, 69, of 1377 Apex Dr., Glendora, is seeking another five-year term and is facing opposition from LaTrencia C. “Precious” Bounds, 23, of 3415 Sharkey Road, Charleston.
» A special election in West Tallahatchie Education District 4 has two suitors: Sharon Elaine Bailey, 59, of 156 Main St., Webb, and Rosie Mason Miller, 56, of 175 N. Laura St., Webb.
Members of the East and West Tallahatchie school districts’ five-member boards of trustees serve staggered five-year terms, with one seat in each district coming up for regular election every fall.
