The West Tallahatchie High School Choctaws are semifinalists in the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A Boys Basketball Championships.
The 17-9 varsity Choctaws are scheduled to face the 17-12 Baldwyn Bearcats in a noon tipoff Monday at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
A win would catapult the green and white machine into a state championship game for only the second time in school history. In 2016, West Tally won a Class 2A state championship on the strength of a 34-0 record. West Tallahatchie has since dropped from Class 2A to Class 1A.

Also facing off Monday in Jackson with a championship berth on the line are the 34-2 Ingomar Falcons and the 23-9 Shaw Hawks.
The Class 1A state title match will be played Thursday, March 5, at 3 p.m., at The Pavilion on the Ole Miss campus in Oxford.
West Tally beat West Lowndes 49-40 Thursday night while Baldwyn topped Pine Grove 70-45. Ingomar advanced by defeating Coffeeville 69-61 and Shaw moved forward with a 43-27 win over Brooks.
Monday's game will mark the Chocs’ first state semifinals appearance since 2017, when they lost a heartbreaker on a last-second shot.
