Funeral home owner, pastor dies in rollover of hearse

Pastor and Charleston funeral home owner, the Rev. Sammy L. Townes, 63, of Grenada, was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday in Yalobusha County.

Townes was a passenger in a 2010 Cadillac hearse traveling north on Interstate 55 when it left the roadway and rolled over several times.

Federal pandemic relief fraud trial postponed for second time

The federal pandemic relief fraud trial of Zipora Hudson and Montreal Hudson has been continued again, according to court documents.
The case is now scheduled for trial starting at 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 21 in Courtroom 3 East on the third floor of the U.S. Federal Building in Oxford, with U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills presiding.
