Tallahatchie County and most of the Mid-South region are under a Winter Storm Watch, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis announced Wednesday.

More than 2 inches of snow and sleet are expected in the Tallahatchie County area, with ice accumulations over 1/4 inch.

Missing Spring Hill community woman found safe

A Spring Hill community woman has been found safe in the town of Oakland.

Tallahatchie County Sheriff Jimmy Fly said Laura Gale Smith, 58, was found on Spruce Street in the Yalobusha County town after having been reported missing some seven hours earlier with concerns about the threat of self-harm.

Yard of the Month
The Charleston property of Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, located at 345 W. Chestnut St., has been selected by the Charleston Magnolia Garden Club as its “Yard of the Month” award recipient for January. The club designates a Charleston-area lawn for the beautification honor based on criteria including basic principles of landscape design: unity, balance, contrast and harmony, color, transition, line, proportion and repetition.
