Sadie Harper said they are all over the virus.
We also feel blessed that our little community was saved from the tornado that passed through.
Ginger Harrison said they had a great weekend celebrating son Jake’s birthday. Diane Nail Hill made him a great lunch and a fabulous red velvet cake. Josh and Diane sang in church Sunday morning and did a fantastic job. It was beautiful. They then visited “moma,” Martha Box. She is doing very well, added Ginger.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Hartley’s Farm Saturday was a big success. They always have a big turnout, and Mark, Faye and Kristie always make you feel at home. “It was great,” said Faye. “We hid over 1,000 eggs. Had hamburgers, hot dogs, etc., and a hay ride.”
Martha Box is singing, “I Go Out Walking!” Her foot is healing but she still has to wear a support boot till May first. She is now up and about some with a walking stick. “So excited I was up on it 10 minutes, then down for 30 or so minutes,” Martha said. “Good to get out and do the crazy Walmart thing with sister Joyce. I will be driving next week, I hope. I was trying to get to church Sunday but the power was out. I will have everything laid out next week with a kerosene lamp ready!”
Martha said she enjoyed a visit from Ginger, Phil and Jake Sunday. She said her great-nephew, Wyatt, came by Saturday and mowed her grass and did a fine job! “Hard-working boy growing into a real man!” she noted. “Young man gets that from hard-working gramps, Jesse Wortham, who has worked hard for me these three months, even repairing my kitchen drawer!”
Martha offered prayers for all who suffered from the storms. “Jesus’ love and comfort to all,” she noted. “Thank you, daughter Donna Garripoli, for sweeping my floors and washing up my dinner dishes. I made spaghetti sauce and Donna cooked the spaghetti and rolls. It was so good!”
Tommy and Deborah McCool went to Leland Saturday afternoon. They picked up Alice Kellum, Tommy’s sister, and went to visit Tommy's brother who was in town for the weekend. They all had a good visit. They came home early Sunday morning, and Alice came home with them to spend the rest of the day before they had to take her home.
Happy birthday to Tara Williams Upchurch, Chase Newman and Liz Brannon Trotter, who celebrate the 10th; to Bro Truman Scarborough on the 12th; and to Betty Fly Neal and John Dukes on the 13th.
Recipe of the week: “Dinner Buns”
These are 30-minute buns. No resting required. Dump everything into a bowl, toss in the oven and they will be the best buns you will ever make.
In a bowl, add 1 cup warm water, 2 tablespoons yeast and 2 tablespoons sugar. Mix and let sit 5 minutes until frothy.
Add 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 egg, 1-1/2 tsp salt and 3 cups of flour (if too sticky, add 1/2 cup). Mix well and knead for 5 minutes
Divide into eight or six for larger buns. Roll into bun shapes. Put onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and rest till oven is preheated to 400. Bake for 11 minutes, brush with butter, cut and fill with favorite things, and enjoy.
Thought for the day: Some people are like clouds; when they disappear, it’s a beautiful day.
