Sunday, we enjoyed a delicious lunch in Grenada at daughter Donna Garripoli’s home. Donna is a wonderful cook and we celebrated husband David Deck’s birthday, which was Tuesday the 29th. Our special guest at Donna’s was my sweet sister, Ann Hudson. Those attending were Brad, Frankie and Brad-ley Holliday, your writer and David.
My great-grandson, Bradley Holliday, was practicing diving and ended up cutting the inside of his mouth. He had to have several stitches. It cut into the muscle so that he ended up having to go to the University Medical Center in Jackson. He had to go back Saturday night because a stitch came loose. Mashed potatoes, Jell-O and pudding will be his main menu for a while.
After church Sunday, Tommy and Deborah McCool went to Senatobia to visit their son Christopher and family. They had a cookout for Christopher's birthday. Too much eating. Both of their grandsons, Hunter and Olivia, were there, as they had the weekend off, along with Hayden’s sweet girlfriend. They went swimming while the food cooked. Samantha’s mom, Mary, is still doing OK with her dialysis.
David and I visited with Patsie Tillman, Nick and Cheyenne Fox and their three children, Amelia Page, Austen James and Addie Mae, Friday in Coffeeville. It was a good visit and we enjoyed seeing all of them.
Martha Box said her kids and grands got together celebrating her birthday. Talk about best hot dog and chili ever, per Ginger. “Candy made an exceptional cake! And, wow, so many happy words and celebrating these four days,” said Martha. Sister Joyce and brother Jesse started out Thursday with a great lunch at the Ole Corner Store with barbecue ribs and chicken.
Martha said she drove a bit to Charleston, Grenada and then to Greenville and back. She said her post-op foot tolerated it so good that she’s thinking of Texas, Arkansas and points beyond.
Martha’s two young nephews, Wyatt and Ryder, gave her a good car wash and cleaning for a present. “That Papaw Jesse sure teaches real manhood to those boys. They always are helpful to me!” said Martha. “Addie, Eb and Kenny Hardy's beautiful little princess even made my bed for me. Granddaughter Rissa and husband Steven Jackson worked on my new tool box for me. Ben and Melinda, Ginger and Phil gave me just what I need as presents. Now you just can't beat a birthday like that!”
Your writer’s sweet up-the-road neighbor, Lila Myrick, made a trip to Greenwood last Tuesday for injections in both eyes.
Sheila O’Bryant had her surgery and her mother, Sadie Harper, is praying it was a success. It’s wrapped up tight and has to stay that way for a while.
Sadie Harper got a surprise for her birthday, as their son Ed came home for a week. He has a couple of job interviews and Sadie said she is praying that he will get one and move back South. That would be wonderful, Sadie.
Ginger Harrison said they had a good time celebrating Moma’s (Martha Box’s) birthday Sunday evening. They had a big group: Ben, Melinda and Marnie Box, Candy Box, Steven and Marissa Jackson, Erin Jackson, Presley Hardy, Addison Leachman, Cooper Burrows, Phil, Ginger and Jake. Josh is at a concert with friends.

Thought for the day: In case no one told you today, you’re beautiful, you’re loved, you’re needed, you’re stronger than you think, you’re alive for a reason, you’re going to get through this, I’m glad you are alive. Don’t give up.
