“Dancing in the Park,” at George Payne Cossar State Park,” will be Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be lots of vendors and lots of fun.
Lauri McCullar was baptized at the Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday morning by Brother Rickey Harris. Lauri is from Oakland and a sweet friend of Terri Dukes.
Martha Box said it has been so hot, she has worn out her “itsy bitsy teeny tiny polka dot bikini.” She also reported a great Sunday at church, saying Bro. Tommy Darby did an “excellent job of sharing God’s word.”
She said singing by Wayne Box touched her heart. She spent the week inside cleaning out a lot of saved papers and said it was “quite a burning.” Martha had a coffee break at her place with Kenny Parker, Harvey and Linda Darby — their first since the truck stop closed. They were to do it again Monday at 3 p.m.
Love and sympathy to the David Melton family of Grenada. David was a cousin to Lila Myrick and Freda Melton Weir, both of Tillatoba. David was married to Mary Beth Walton Melton. He was tax assessor for Grenada County.
Lila Myrick was to go Wednesday for injections in her eyes at the clinic in Oxford.
Debbie McCool said she and Tommy had to cancel a trip to visit their granddaughter Allison and to see their great-grand, little Lily. Tommy was around a friend last Friday and the friend tested positive Saturday for COVID, so they did not want to take a chance exposing her. They are planning to go in October now. They went to church, to Como to have lunch and back through some places in Batesville for shopping.
Daughter Donna Garripoli came Sunday and ate a barbecue with us. Donna hasn’t been feeling well lately and has an appointment with a doctor in Oxford the last of this month. Please say a prayer for my sweet daughter.

Thought for the day: You come from dust and you’ll return to dust. That’s why I don’t dust; it could be someone I know.
