The qualifying deadline for two school board posts on the ballot this year in Tallahatchie County is today (Thursday, Aug. 20) at 5 p.m.
As of Tuesday, only incumbents had filed required qualifying papers and petitions.
The Nov. 3 election will feature school board posts in Education District 1, a seat on the West Tallahatchie School District Board of Trustees presently held by Lucinda Berryhill, 71, and Education District 6, a seat on the East Tallahatchie School District Board of Trustees occupied by Audra “Temp” Brown, 57.
There is no qualifying fee for school board, but candidates must file a Qualifying Statement of Intent and submit a petition with the signatures of 50 registered voters living in their respective education district.
Forms are available from the circuit clerk’s offices in Charleston (662-647-8758) and Sumner (662-375-8515).
