ROSEBLOOM — The annual Rosebloom Recreational Park Independence Day gala is this Saturday, June 29, and organizers anticipate a large crowd to help commemorate the nation’s upcoming 248th birthday.
The event promises stirring entertainment in an always family-friendly environment.
An inflatable water slide will be available for the enjoyment of children from 4-6 p.m., said park spokesperson Andrea Brasher Davis.
Vendor booths open at 4 featuring a variety of wares. Food vendors will offer such festive goodies as snow cones, funnel cakes and more.
Starting at 5, the ballpark’s concession stand will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and other food and snack items.
Festivities will include a program of “God and Country” music at 6 showcasing soul-stirring gospel, patriotic favorites and more.
Skylar Mims, on horseback, will present the U.S. flag for the opening ceremony, after which William Tribble will offer prayer. Dusty McKibben will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening.
Braden Sprayberry of Gore Springs and his band, “In Debt,” will perform.
The Legacy Dance Academy of Grenada also will present a patriotic program.
Veterans of the U.S. armed forces will be recognized.
The grand finale, at about 9, will be one of the largest fireworks shows in the area.
Vendor booth space is still available at a rate of $100 for food vendors and $25 for all others. For details, call or text Davis at 662-647-1752.
Davis said proceeds from vendor fees and sponsor donations benefit the ballpark.
“We are making improvements every year, and we’ve been growing,” noted Davis, who said more than 200 young ballplayers are utilizing the park’s three fields for games this summer.
