Tutwiler municipal officials for the July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029, four-year term were sworn in Monday afternoon in the courtroom of Tutwiler City Hall.
Tallahatchie County Second Judicial District Justice Court Judge Denise Washington-Lockett performed the brief ceremony.
Three incumbents, Ward 2 Alderwoman Queen Esther Jones, Ward 4 Alderwoman Dianne Pimpton and Ward 5 Alderwoman Donnie Cox Powell, recited the oath of office again.
A pair of new members of the Tutwiler Board of Aldermen, Daven L. Grayson in Ward 1 and Sherry Thomas Ellington in Ward 3, also took the oath. Grayson is the daughter of late longtime Tutwiler mayor and, before that, Tutwiler alderman and vice mayor, Robert L. Grayson. Ellington is former superintendent of the West Tallahatchie School District.
Incumbent Mayor Nichole Harris will begin her fourth term as the chief executive of Tutwiler on July 1.
