June 10 Deadline Approaching for Winter Storm Fern Assistance
June 10 is the deadline for Mississippi residents affected by Winter Storm Fern (DR-4899) to apply for financial assistance. The storm impacted the state from January 23–27, 2025.
As of June 9, more than 84,000 Mississippians have registered for assistance. Through FEMA's Individual Assistance program, more than $126 million has been distributed to eligible storm survivors.

L.V. Hull Legacy Center to celebrate phase 1 on June 13

Remarks are scheduled for 1 p.m. The opening will include exhibition tours, artmaking opportunities, an oral history collection booth, refreshments and other activities for visitors.

Under the changes in the One Big Beautiful Bill, a state with an error rate above 6% will be required to provide matching funds. As of May 27th, Mississippi’s SNAP error rate has declined to 8.69%, down from the reported 10.69% last June, per MDHS.
According to recent data provided by the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS), the state’s error rate for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is on the decline.

Father’s Day was first proposed in 1909 by Sonora Dodd. After listening to a Mother’s Day sermon, she thought that the fathers should also enjoy their own memorable day.
