MPA vice president Peter Imes, publisher of the Commercial Dispatch in Columbus, spoke of the vital role local journalism “plays at the grassroots level in our democracy” as he welcomed the panel.

Olive honored as Who's Who at the University of Mississippi

Olive was among more than 200 Ole Miss students who were honored with the distinction during a ceremony on April 10 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

UM student Landon Jones inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

Landon Jones, of Kosciusko, MS, majoring in Psychology, was among the more than 180 University of Mississippi students who were welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. • Adjusting age ranges for annual permits and boat launch fees
• Adding ages 16 and up to daily fishing fee

Tyler claims 4A State Tennis Title, caps dominant season for Kosciusko

Kosciusko junior Hayes Tyler lost only two sets this year on his way to the 4A individual state boys singles tennis championship, and both came against Tyson Alford of Houston.
In matches during the regular season and in the Region 4-4A tournament, Tyler and Alford split sets before Tyler won a 10-point tiebreaker, 10-5 each time.

Spivey-Phillips sprint duel highlights McAdams’ top-10 finish at South State Meet

McAdams boys finished seventh and the girls were eighth at the 1A South State track meet hosted by Clinton High School.
The top eight teams for boys were Simmons with 83 points, Leflore County 77, Taylorsville 77, Leake County 46, Richton 46, Resurrection 43, McAdams 42 and Noxapater 38. Ethel was 16th with nine points.
