Henry Roberson, 4, and Lucy Roberson, 8, carry on a rich Delta tradition by displaying the year’s first reported cotton bloom in Tallahatchie County. Discovered Sunday, July 7, in Bryan Roberson’s field on South Creek Road near Charleston, this bloom emerged from Deltapine variety 1518 cotton that was planted on May 16.
