With rain falling and menacing clouds churning overhead, participants of the Saturday, April 16, American Cancer Society Rally for a Cure community fundraising event in Charleston await the final countdown to release balloons in honor and in memory of cancer victims. The noontime balloon release is a longtime staple of the Rally, which is organized and implemented by a local ACS board and volunteers. This year's Rally was held at the former National Guard armory.
