While Jackson residents are showing stiff opposition to a proposed data center, a new report has come out indicating Entergy residential rates have gone up $10.60 a month.
Dozens of protestors crowded a Jackson Planning Board meeting on a future data center development on roughly 190 acres near Forest Avenue and Interstate 220 in Northwest Jackson.
A Musk data center in Memphis has created a lot of opposition. Residents complain of the noise and pollution from the gas-fired generators used to power the data center.

Mixing it Up Honoring Jann Farmer. The following recipes were hers.
BANANA BREAD
3 rips bananas, mashed
3 eggs
1 cup, plus 2 tbls unsalted butter
6 tbls plain yogurt
1 tbls vanilla
1 tbls dark rum
2 cups, plus 2 tbls cake flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 tsp salt
Chopped pecans
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and rum. Mix dry ingredients, alternating with yogurt. Mix in bananas and pecans. Bake at 350 in a greased and floured bundt pan for 50 minutes or tester in center is clean.

The Dumas High School was one of 220 schools from 38 states across the country to receive a $5,000 grant through the laura Bush Foundation for America's libraries. This year, the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries awarded over $1 million in library grants.
Many of the libraries will use the funds to update and diversify their collections.

Destination Transformation recognized four students for improving their grades in English and math during an event held April 11, 2026, at the Youth Improvement Center.
Twenty students attended the event, including 10 students from Dumas and 10 from Marvel. Each student received $100 in recognition of academic improvement.

Natchez is a treasure and I was delighted to spend a long weekend in that historic town on Memorial Day.
Jesus said a prophet is not appreciated in his hometown. Likewise, many Mississippians don't appreciate what a historic treasure Natchez is.
Back in the years before the Civil War, Natchez was, by far, the richest city in the United States with the most millionaires per capita. It was the historic equivalent of what Silicon Valley is today.
