Dumas School District Family Night 2026 drew more than 300 with over 30 vendors sharing valuable information and more than 300 attendees, the impact was truly meaningful. The 5th grade Lil Bobcats performed a cheer. Students signed up to play basketball. Attendee also had to opportunity to donate blood. The Dumas High School and Junior Choirs closed the night.

Late last month, the U. S. Supreme Court issued a bombshell decision that will have a huge effect on Mississippi politics.
In Louisiana v. Callais, the court ruled that you can’t redistrict based purely on race. It overturned a previous federal court decision that compelled the Louisiana state legislature to create a second black Congressional district.

, Children have a soapy good time at one of the two foam parties held at the 3rd Annua Dumas Founders Day. April 25. The fun-family event had a variety of activities and entertainment for festival goers.

DUMAS — The 3rd Annual Founders Day Festival brought the community together on Main Street April 25, offering a full day of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food, and local vendors.
Attendees of all ages enjoyed attractions including the Happy Acres Petting Zoo and a visit from the Pafford helicopter, where guests had the opportunity to meet the crew and tour the aircraft.

BUTTERMILK
EGGNOG PIE
1 unbaked pie shell
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 tbls flour
1-1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp kosher salt
3 eggs
5 tbls butter
1 cup buttermilk
1 tbls rum
1 tsp vanilla
Bake pie crust with pie weights at 350 slightly browned. Cool. Whisk together sugar, flour and 1 tsp nutmeg and salt. Whisk in eggs, one at a time. Drizzle in melted butter, buttermilk, rum and vanilla. Pour into pie shell. And sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes and center is set.

UAM will hold its spring commencement exercises on Friday, May 8, in the Steelman Field House.
Commencement will be split into two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ceremony and 1 p.m. for the 2 p.m. ceremony. Guests are encouraged to be seated by 9:50 a.m. and 1:50 p.m., as the processionals will begin at 9:55 a.m. and 1:55 p.m.

Walter Hall Post 84 American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary are seeking sponsorships for students to attend Boys and Girls State this summer. We have received a number of requests from students who wish to attend. The cost for Boys State Delegates for the week long event will be $250 per student. The Girls State Delegates cost will be $300 per student. Sessions will be held on the campuses of UCA in Conway and Harding University in Searcy.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the Arkansas Century Farm Program. This program honors Arkansas families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years, recognizing their contributions to the state’s agricultural heritage.
Completed applications must be submitted online no later than July 31, 2026, to be considered for the 2026 induction cycle. The program is voluntary, and there is no cost to apply. To qualify, Arkansas farms must meet the following criteria:
