Ackerman Baptist Church Christmas Programs
Ackerman Baptist Church will host a special Christmas presentation on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m., the church’s Kingdom Kids ministry will present “Bethlehem Express,” a children’s Christmas musical created for audiences of all ages.
Program is open to the public. Church leaders encouraged families to attend and “enjoy the true spirit of the season through music and fellowship.”
Ackerman Baptist Church is located at 185 East Cherry Street.

Bonnie Glenn “Butch” Johns
Bonnie Glenn “Butch” Johns, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at Choctaw County Nursing Center in Ackerman. He was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Choctaw County to Barney Casper and Laurene Stephenson Johns. A retired factory employee, he was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, with visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Burial followed in Clear Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include his sister, Sarah Holloway.

Micheal Peyton Hardin
Services for Micheal Peyton Hardin, 23, of Calhoun City were Dec. 9, 2025, at Grace Fellowship Church in Calhoun City with the Rev. Corey Clark officiating. Burial was in New Providence Cemetery.
Born Dec. 18, 2001 in Grenada, he was the son of Matt Hardin and Lisa Patterson. Mr. Hardin attended Calhoun City High School and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. He died Dec. 6, 2025, in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 9 North in Webster County.

GREENWOOD — Glenn Allen Brooks, Sr. age 81, passed away, Saturday, Dec. 6.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was formerly from Tallahatchie County and a graduate of West Tallahatchie High School. He was a retired operations coordinator for Entergy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Brooks.
